Understanding Eating Disorders [VIDEO: Matters of the Mind]

An eating disorder can often go unnoticedIn fact, people with eating disorders may go to great lengths to conceal symptoms and behaviors from others, including loved ones and healthcare providers.

What we covered in this workshop on eating disorders:

  • An overview of common disordered eating symptoms (behaviours, feelings, thoughts) and description of Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge eating Disorder 
  • Pre-conditions and contributing factors for the development and maintenance of eating disorders 
  • Eating disorders as a defense mechanism and survival strategy 
  • Myths, misconceptions, and stereotypes of eating disorders  
  • Ways to support folks in their recovery process
